Our shop at 22 Church Street Collector is open by appointment. We are often at the shop most weekends and Tuesdays to Thursdays doing on-line work. So if you feel like a visit at these times just give us a call on 0403 568 112 or email frank@collectorbooks.com.au.

If you would like to combine your trip with a meal or refreshments, please note we are next door to the Bushranger Hotel, where your hosts Norm and Diane have an excellent range of meals, beers and wines. There is also Poidevin's Cafe (the old General Store) on the corner of Murray and Bourke Streets; Grandma's Bakery on the Federal Highway 2km north of Collector which has Mediterranean cuisine combined with stunning views; and Lerida Winery and Cafe 8km South of Collector which has magnificent views over Lake Georges to complement its equally magnificent wines.

As one of the oldest centres of European settlement in country Australia, Collector and district offers much to see and explore. The Collector History Walk booklet from our shop, the Bushranger Hotel or Poidevin's Cafe you will find is a useful introductory guide.

Al Grassby book collection now available

We haved recently purchased the majority of this collection.  Since Al was a former journalist before his time as a State and Federal politician, there are many fine books in a number of areas.   The strengths are mainly in politics, Australian and Irish history and biography with many signed copies.  We are at present just enjoying looking thorough them but will put the majority on-line soon.  Give us a call if you would like to know more.

Come see Dickens and Lake George

In honour of Charles Dickens' 200th birthday year we will maintain a special table of his works, biographies on him plus a cabinet containing early and first editions (while they last) and a Victoriana table.  You will find we have one of the best collections of works of and about Dickens in Australia.

With all the record recent rain Lake George is filling up again in another once in 25 years flourish. There are very special views from Geary's Gap, Lerida Estate Winery plus the Mark Tree Road from Collector to Gundaroo.  There is no better time to combine views of this marvel with a trip to Old Collector.
