Pickwick Papers, Charles Dickens, Chapman and Hall, London 1836, First Edition. Marbled boards with leather corners and spine with raised bands and gold lettering. Some rubbing and wear on edges. The binding and inside pages are sound and clean with endpapers compatible with period recently renewed. Slight foxing to first few pages at front and at back, but more markedly so on the 43 illustrations by R Seymour and Phiz. Very rare and an excellent present to a serious Dickensian. $3,890.00 plus postage.
